Parish
Congratulations
to all who participated in the services of the Mission Week.
Grateful
thanks is expressed to all who helped in the preparation for the mission; all
who helped in the distribution of the leaflets; all who hosted the Blessed
Sacrament in their homes and who opened their homes to their neighbours for
prayer.
Finally our
thanks to the Redemptorists for their guidance, help and
prayers during the week.
Child
Protection
As you are
probably aware, as a direct response to the horrific events of child abuse
which have been uncovered over the last number of years within the Catholic
Church, the Archbishop of Dublin, Dr. Diarmuid Martin
through the Dublin Diocesan Offices has instructed that all parishes in the
Dublin Dioceses must draft and implement a “Child Protection Policy”. In
response to this Arklow Parish Pastoral Council has nominated two of its
members Michelle Gaffney (Arklow) and Garry Kehoe (
This work
has now been completed and the draft policy has been adopted by the Parish
Pastoral Council and the Dioceses. This time has now come to implement this
policy into al groups who work with young people (under18 years) under the
church’s umbrella.
As stated
from the title of our , a Child Protection Policy is
put in place so as to safeguard the rights of the children both as individuals
and as children of God. It affirms that the safety our children
is paramount within the Catholic Church. This is achieved by having a
single and transparent policy governing all groups within the parish, all
working to the same guidelines. This policy also gives protection to those who
work with young people.
Our first induction night takes
place next Tuesday 20th March in Árus Lorcáin and all
relevant parish groups would have received an invitation to attend the evening
commencing @ 7.00pm.

MOTHERING
SUNDAY
Dearest
Lord,
I
sit here quietly in my room, opening my heart to you. It is so silent! But if I
listen intently, I become aware of the breathing of my children in beds down
the hall. They sign softly or move in their beds quietly, nestled warmly into
their dreams. These most intimate sounds, coming from the people I love most in
the world, transform this room. It becomes a place of honouring you, a
cathedral of joy and gratitude toward you for giving me these children.
May
I always treasure these gifts you have given me. In
each moment of loving them, from kisses to laundry to kitchen, may I be aware
of your presence in my life in this way.
Thank
you
