The mission of the Arklow Parish Council is seen as an outreach to all, being sensitive and responding to the needs of all in a spirit of prayer with the commitment to everyday action, living the gospel so that our beliefs and hopes may be expressed reasonably and be achievable, in the service of the people of God in our parish.

Dublin Diocesan Young Adult Pilgrimage to Taize
The Office of Evangelisation have announced details of the Dublin Diocesan Young Adult Pilgrimage to Taize from 11th - 18th July 2010. Young adults are invited to join over two thousand other young Christians from around the world who come to this ecumenical monastery in Burgundy, France every week during the summer to experience the prayer and fellowship of the community founded by Brother Roger. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will be taking part.
It is hoped that the Parish will send a group of young people aged between 18- 30 on this pilgrimage which is said to be an utterly life changing experience. Anyone interested can contact Joy Loughlin, Hilary Sharpe or Fr. Martin at Arús Lorcáin on (0402) 31716

Exhibition of Work in the Parish
It is hoped that an ‘Exhibition of the Work in the Parish’ will take place in late spring. Involving more parishioners in the life of the Parish has always been an aim of the Parish Pastoral Council. The Exhibition will allow different Parish groups and Ministries to show the work that they do in the Parish and hopefully recruit interested people.  This community building exercise is an exciting venture which we hope will be a great success.  Keep an eye out on this website and in the Easter Newsletter for further details and more specific dates. All are welcome!

Visitation:
You may remember an article in one of last year’s newsletters about the formation of a Visitation group in the Parish. Here is an excerpt from that article to ‘jog your memory’:
Visitation is a way to reach out to the community through face to face calls to the homes in the parish. The Visitation Group hopes to provide another link between those working in the parish and the community, through networking and outreaching.  Members of the group visit houses, just to say hello, have a chat and provide information on parish activities. It is hoped that the group will listen, offer support and invite people to re-engage in the church if possible.
A group has now been trained and are eager to get started. We hope to get this up and running in the coming months. Further details will be available on this website and in the Newsletters as soon as they are finalised.
